When I lived in Lewes in East Sussex I was delighted to be asked to present a radio show on Rocket Radio, the local radio station set up during the town’s massive bonfire season lasting from October until early November. Each show was an hour longg and with their brief on-air season, Rocket were able to allow me to play anything I wanted. It was a lifelong ambition of mine to host my own radio show and showcase an eclectic selection of music that I loved and wanted to share. For myself I wanted to know that someone, somewhere in Lewes was hearing ‘Somewhere down the crazy river’ by Robbie Robertson for the first time and being transfixed.
